Privacy Policy for Taste Marketplace
Last updated: 13 January 2026
Taste Marketplace is a registered business name in Australia and is operated by a sole trader. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). (OAIC)
This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and share your personal information when you use our website and related services.

1) What “personal information” means
“Personal information” is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.

2) The personal information we collect
We collect information that is reasonably necessary to operate Taste Marketplace, support enquiries, and help you request or arrange bookings with experience operators.
Information you provide to us
  • Contact details: name, email address, phone number
  • Booking request details: experience selected, preferred date/time, number of participants, and other booking notes
  • Special requirements you choose to share: including dietary requirements and accessibility needs
Dietary requirements and some special requirements can be sensitive information in certain cases (for example, allergies). If you provide it, you consent to us collecting it and sharing it with the relevant operator so they can deliver the experience appropriately.
Information collected automatically
  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and interaction data
  • Cookies and similar technologies (see section 8)
Information we receive from operators or booking platforms
Where relevant, we may receive booking status information (for example, confirmation, amendments, cancellations). Payment card details are not collected or stored by Taste Marketplace where payment is handled by third parties.

3) Payments and third-party booking platforms
Taste Marketplace does not take payment directly for bookings. When you proceed to book, you may be directed to an experience operator or their booking platform (for example, Rezdy or another provider). Those third parties manage payment processing and handle personal information under their own privacy policies and terms.
We may collect limited details to help facilitate the booking request (for example, your contact details and booking notes), then pass the relevant information to the operator or their booking system.

4) How we collect personal information
We collect personal information when you:
  • submit an enquiry or booking request
  • subscribe to updates
  • contact us by email, phone, forms, or social channels
  • browse our website (via cookies/analytics)

5) How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
  • respond to enquiries and provide customer support
  • facilitate booking requests and share necessary booking details with operators
  • send essential messages related to your enquiry or booking request
  • send marketing communications where you’ve opted in (see section 7)
  • maintain and improve our website, content and services
  • manage safety, fraud prevention and site performance
  • meet legal and regulatory obligations
APP 1 requires organisations covered by the Privacy Act to manage personal information in an open and transparent way, including having a clear privacy policy. (OAIC)

6) When we disclose personal information
We may disclose personal information to:
  • Experience operators you choose to book with (so they can confirm and deliver the experience)
  • Booking and distribution platforms used by operators to manage availability and reservations
  • Service providers that support our operations (for example, website hosting, IT support, analytics, email/SMS tools)
  • Regulators and law enforcement where required or authorised by law
Overseas disclosures
Some service providers (such as cloud hosting or analytics providers) may store or process data outside Australia. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the APPs, as required under APP 8. (OAIC)

7) Direct marketing
If you opt in, we may send you updates about new experiences and Taste Marketplace news. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. If you disable cookies, some website features may not work as intended.

9) Data security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Controls may include access restrictions, secure hosting, and encryption where appropriate.
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy and to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution requirements.
Data breaches
If Taste Marketplace is covered by the Privacy Act, we comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, which requires notification to affected individuals and the OAIC in certain circumstances where a breach is likely to result in serious harm. (OAIC)

10) Access and correction
You can request access to personal information we hold about you and request corrections if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing requests.

11) Complaints
If you have a complaint about how we handle personal information, contact us using the details below and include as much information as possible. We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe (generally within 30 days).

The Privacy Act includes a “small business” threshold (generally an annual turnover of $3 million or less), with exceptions. Taste Marketplace aims to apply the APPs as set out in this policy. (OAIC)

13) Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will be published on our website with an updated “Last updated” date.
